When the Lamb Won’t Feed
Today’s Field Note is about patience, timing, and holding space. It’s called "When the Lamb Won’t Feed."
Sometimes, no matter how gently you guide the lamb, it just won’t latch. It’s hungry. The milk is there. But something’s not quite working.
PJ doesn’t give up. He doesn’t walk away and try again tomorrow. He tries a different way. He warms the lamb, brings out the bottle, and encourages it to drink in a way it can receive.
And then, when it’s a bit stronger… he tries again with the ewe.
Healing is like that too. Just because someone doesn’t take what you’re offering doesn’t mean they don’t want to. It might mean they don’t yet know how.
You don’t force. You find another way in. You meet them where they are. You stay present.
That’s the medicine.
So maybe today, if something isn’t working, if someone isn’t responding, or even if you are struggling to receive… try a gentler way. Try a different way.
You’re not behind. You’re just in a moment of figuring it out.
Why This Story Matters – from Carmel:
“This was one of those quiet moments where PJ’s way became a teaching without him even trying. It reminded me that support doesn’t always look like fixing or pushing. It looks like patience, gentleness, and trying again—with love. This Field Note became the heartbeat of the whole series because it’s how I want people to feel here: met, supported, and never rushed.”
