You Have to Rest the Field to Grow Again
This next one is about rest, restoration, and what we can't always see.
Some years, PJ rests a field completely. No sheep. No sowing. Just soil.
He says, “It’s not wasted. It’s recovering.”
We forget that we are fields too.
When we’re not producing, not blooming, not creating—it doesn’t mean we’re failing. It means we’re restoring nutrients for what’s next.
Rest isn’t laziness. It’s land wisdom.
So if you’re in a quiet place right now—honour that. You don’t need to be visible to be valuable.
What part of you might be ready to lie fallow… so something new can grow?
Why This Story Matters – from Carmel:
“This reflection came when I realised I’d been forcing myself to grow before I was ready. The field reminded me: stillness has its own sacred purpose. And some of the most important healing happens underground.”
